What to Expect From Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy: A Step By Step Guide

A cigarette

If you're thinking about booking stop smoking hypnotherapy, you might be wondering what exactly happens after you book. In this quick guide, I outline what to expect from stop smoking hypnotherapy, from your first call through to the session itself, so you can feel confident about what's ahead.

Step 1: your 15-minute discovery call

We start with a free 15-minute discovery call: a relaxed chat about your situation and what's motivating you to quit, since motivation is key to success. If it's the right fit, we will book your session in there and then.

Step 2: preparing before your session

Once you're booked in, I'll send over some pre-read material and a few simple steps to help you get ready for your quite day. I'll also send you a sleep track, designed to gently prepare your mind for positive change. You should listen to it for at least a week before your session - it lays the groundwork your subconscious needs before the hypnosis.

Step 3: your session, two hours split in half

Your session itself lasts two hours, split into two halves.

The first half is a conversation, where we talk through your smoking or vaping habit, your triggers, and what you want instead (you'll find more on this approach on the stop smoking hypnotherapy page).

The second half moves into hypnosis (or trance), where we focus on the habits and triggers behind your smoking or vaping, things like reaching for a cigarette with your coffee or after a meal, and work on replacing them with more positive behaviours. I use clear, direct language to help that new pattern take hold in your subconscious.

You'll leave the session as a non-smoker, feeling positive and refreshed, ready to step into your new smoke-free life.

A few more questions people ask

Will I be asleep or unconscious during the session?

Not at all - trance is a deeply relaxed, focused state, nothing like sleep or unconsciousness. You'll stay fully aware and conscious throughout.

Do I need to believe in hypnosis for it to work?

Not really - you just need to be willing to relax and go with the process. A little scepticism won't stop it working, as long as you're open to giving it a try.

Is hypnotherapy for smoking safe?

Yes - it's a calm, talking-based process with no medication involved, and it's suitable for almost everyone.

Can I do this online instead of in person?

Yes - the whole process works just as well over video call. Some of clients prefer having hypnotherapy online in the comfort of their own home, so just let me know when you book.
