What to expect from sessions

Your first session is a 50 minute consultation where we’ll explore what brings you to therapy and what you’d like to achieve. I’ll explain how hypnosis works and there will be plenty of time for questions.

Your first session - the consultation

You’ll leave the session with a tailored treatment plan, feeling ready and confident to begin your journey.

Ongoing sessions

Each follow-up session lasts 50 minutes and includes a short conversation about your goals and what’s been going well. Followed by a guided hypnosis.

Simply settle back and listen to my voice. I will guide you through a gentle relaxation using deep breathing, visualization, and muscle relaxation techniques. Then I use suggestions to help you achieve your goals.


What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that happens when you’re relaxed, like daydreaming or zoning out on a long drive. It is a state of focused relaxation.

In this state, your busy analytical mind steps back so you can focus inward and absorb positive suggestions. You remain in control and can speak or move if you want to (just like a daydream). It’s safe, natural, and anyone can do it.

What does hypnosis feel like?

I describe hypnosis as a pleasant, drifting feeling (a bit like the first stages of sleep). Your body becomes deeply relaxed and your mind grows quiet, but you’re focused on the words being said and what they mean to you.

Most people leave the session feeling calm and refreshed.

You’ll also receive a free sleep track to help you drift off and improve your sleep between sessions.

Online sessions

Online hypnotherapy sessions work just as effectively as in-person. All you need is a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed and a good internet connection. Headphones help with focus too. You can relax from home while we work together over Zoom.

In-person sessions take place from my cosy therapy studio at The Therapy Works in Sharrow, Sheffield.

How many sessions will I need? 

Every session is tailored to you. Some people notice positive changes quite quickly, while for others, progress builds gradually over time. 

On average, most clients benefit from between 6 and 12 sessions (with the exception of smoking, which is one session).

The pace of change can vary depending on things like your goals, commitment to therapy and what’s going on in your day-to-day life. There’s no one-size-fits-all, we work at a pace that’s right for you.

Get started for between:

£40 - £80 per session

The number of sessions required will depend on your personal goals.
