What to expect from your sessions

Your first session – the initial consultation

Your first session lasts 75 minutes. Its a relaxed chat, either online from the comfort of your home or in person at my cosy Sheffield therapy studio.

We'll talk about what you'd like to get out of therapy, go through a few general health details, and there’s plenty of time for questions. I’ll also share some science-backed insights into how your brain works. You’ll learn how this affects things like anxiety, sleep, and emotional wellbeing.

To finish, you’ll experience a gentle, guided relaxation - helping you leave the session feeling calm, settled and ready for positive change.

Ongoing sessions

Each follow-up session lasts 50 minutes and includes two parts:

A short, practical conversation focused on your goals and what’s been going well followed by a calming trance to help your brain relax and strengthen the changes you’re working on.

You will also receive a free sleep track to help you drift off and improve your sleep between sessions.

Online

Online sessions work just as effectively as in-person. All you need is a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed and a good internet connection. Headphones help with focus too.

You can relax from home while we work together over Zoom.

In-person sessions take place from my cosy therapy studio at The Therapy Works in Sharrow, Sheffield.

How many sessions will I need? 

Every session is tailored to you. Some people notice positive changes quite quickly, while for others, progress builds gradually over time. 

On average, most clients benefit from between 6 and 12 sessions (with the exception of stopping smoking sessions, which is one session). But the pace of change can vary depending on things like your goals, commitment to therapy and what’s going on in your day-to-day life. 

There’s no one-size-fits-all, we work at a pace that’s right for you.
